Prom Fundraiser

The Moniteau prom committee is hosting a spirit wear fundraiser from September 2 through September 30. All orders can be made through their online store, and merchandise will be delivered around October 21. This fundraiser aims to support the prom event for the class of 2025. Show your school spirit and help fund a memorable prom experience!

Sunrise Tradition

The Moniteau School District Class of 2026 seniors kept the sunrise tradition alive by enjoying one another's company as the sun rose on their final first day of high school. The students gathered for a photo to capture the moment. As these seniors embark on their final year of high school, some are feeling excited, and some are feeling sentimental. There is a lot to look forward to this year with sports, fundraisers, and a senior trip to New York City. They have a lot of plans, and they look forward to soaking up the last of their high school experiences.

Great Pennsylvania School

Moniteau School District was recently designated as a great Pennsylvania school. The great Pennsylvania schools (GPS) designation recognizes Pennsylvania public schools that provide students with access to rigorous programming, are community-centric, demonstrate financial well-being, and display resilience.

To receive this designation, districts must meet the criteria established in each of the four categories. Districts that provide students with academically rigorous programming must confirm that 100% of their teachers are certified and that students have access to career and technical education, gifted education, advanced placement or international baccalaureate courses, and JROTC programming.

To demonstrate a district’s position as the centerpiece of the community, it must exemplify innovation in school programming, regularly celebrate the successes of students and staff, and provide academic and extracurricular offerings for the benefit of students.

The final criteria – resilience and fiscal health – measure a district’s planning efforts that ultimately lead to successful academic programming. To meet the resilience criteria, a district must implement an emergency preparedness plan and provide mental health supports to students.

A district meets the financially healthy criteria by having an elected or independent auditor conduct a financial audit annually, making the final district budget available for public review prior to adoption, and following school code requirements for bids and quotations when purchasing goods and services.

In addition to the GPS designation and success stories from schools across the state, the campaign website also houses information about the role and responsibilities of a school board, how to run for a position on a local school board, and a collective vision for the future of public education in Pennsylvania.

The Moniteau School District community is encouraged to learn more about the great things happening in their schools by visiting the district’s profile.

Stadium Stairs Update Letter

As you may be aware, the stadium stairs at Luciano Plesakov stadium are currently closed for safety reasons. The district has begun the process of building a new set of stairs, but it is a long process. Please see Superintendent Schnelle’s stadium stairs letter for more information on the project.

Stadium Stairs

If you haven’t been to the high school lately, please be aware that the stadium stairs at Luciano Plesakov Stadium are closed and will be for the entire school year. When our staff started making the needed repairs this summer we found more problems than anticipated. At this time we are unable to fix them and they are closed for use.

However, we have begun the process to create a new set of stadium stairs. We have received drawings from an engineering firm and will be proceeding through the required steps of building new stairs. The ultimate goal is to have this project complete prior to the start of fall sports in the 2026–2027 school year.

For this school year, track and stadium access will be available by walking down the gravel road near the softball and baseball fields. We appreciate your cooperation as we navigate this process.
